Are you frustrated because your download stops in the middle? Sorry for the inconvenience, but we have crappy servers. They have great sprred and uptime, but they just have a bad time keeping the connection alive.
So to help you get over this annoyance, there are download managers. Here is why you need it.
The resume/pause feature in firefox is not the real deal. For example, if you are downloading a 100mb file and your download stops at 50mb, when you try to download again firefox will began from the beginning of the file. All the way back at 0mb instead of keeping the 50mb file and downloading rest of the file. The resume and pause button only works when you pause and resume it on your. But if the download stops on its own, it is useless.
Hence there is an alternative.
With a download manager such as Getright, even if it is a download from firefox that stopped at 50mb, getright will resume the file from that 50mb instead of starting from the beginning. Another thing with getright, if your download stops, it will try to resume on its own after 1 minute.
Here is how you can resume with Getright, others download managers may not work on this site due to a security issue.
1. If you do not already have Getright, download it from http://getright.com/get.html .
2. Install it of course, and then open the program. You should see a little icon (may have a different image) in the system tray.
3. So far, we have make sure you have getright installed. Now before you can put it to use, you need to get a link for the file you want to resume.
For Example: Lets say you were downloading Final Fantasy movie and the download stopped.
a. Go to the link section and generate a new link.
Next you want to Copy the download link, you be pasting it soon.
b. Now go to where the getright icon is in system tray, and right-click on it. Then Click on "Enter new url to Download".
c. A new dialog box will appear, if you copied the text correctly in step a, you will see the link in the text box. If you dont, just go back to the site and copy it again, and paste it inside the box. Click Okay.
d. Now you will see a box a window asking you for the location to where u want to save this file. If you want to resume a previously stopped file, browse to the location of that file and click save. It will give you three choices, choose Resume.
e. You file will continue to be downloading from the point it was stopped at.
