i think you'll love ren and stimpy comic lol, kidding aside I think you'll love to read Batman Reborn! It's like batman begins story line but i shows his training with different martial arts masters.

if you haven't read a lot of marvel, check out any of their ultimate series
they've been updated so they don't have as much background for you to catch up on, and they don't reference it as much

I guess that the first thing i would reccomend is reading Watchmen, that's a piece of art.
Then i'd say Sin City, Kingdom Come (DC), Crisis on the Infinite Earths (DC), Infinite Crisis (DC), 52 and Countdown (DC), Final Crisis (DC), Thanos quest (marvel), Infinity Gauntlet (marvel), Infinity War (marvel), (I think there are 2 more comics of the Thanos sagas but i don't remember the names), Annihillation (marvel), Batman: No man's land (DC), Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Death in the Family, Batman: The Killing Joke.

-Snafu ([strip based] funny strip involving disfunctional housemates)
