WEIRD JAPAN
True, Japanese might think us being just as strange as we believe they are, sukashi: thats no reason not to have a good laugh on them! And if you ever have watched my all time favourite Japanese game show „Takeshi´s Castle“, you know that the Japanese know a good deal how to laugh about themselves, so I believe it would be quite rude not to join them. So why not dedicating a thread to „Weird Japan“? If you ever had a weird or funny encounter when it comes to Japanese culture or if you´ve come across something in that respect on the net: feel free to share.

„WESTERN BREAKFAST“ IN JAPAN
There is this guy who lectures Japanese and travels Japan to teach Japanese teachers how to teach English in Japan. However, he always comes up with some hillariouse movie clips about literally anything. This time its a clip on what the Japanese think a western breakfast looks like ... I mean: there are quite some differences, just think of the traditional English breakfast with beans and bacon or the continental breakfast, which is quite often just a mixture of a very bad French style croissant and jam and stuff. German or Italian types of breakfast are usually completely ignored or they add just some bits and pieces of Musli, as if the Germans would really like to eat that ... (most of them don´t), you might as well serve pasta or pizza for the Italians. Im sure that won´t go down well. However, please check out this clip on what Japanese hotels believe to be a western breakfast

Thanks for sharing, but actually this thread was meant to be dedicated to whatever seems weird in Japan. However, the idea of Japan or what people make of it abroad is also funny, so keep up posting!
COSPLAY ... KIND OF ...
All right, you guys know quite well that cosplay is really BIG in Japan ... however, some of their costumes are just sick !!!

"Nazi-Cosplay" - who thought that up?

Yeah, I know the first one, second one was new to me. They also do some funny otaku-posters.
Creepy Kigurumi café serves up weird, cartoon-like waitresses and turn your 2-D Anime dreams into real 3-D nightmares.
We have heard of cosplay cafés where pretty little Japanese girls serve you and tend to your every need, eventually re-enacting scenes from well-known anime on stage and apparently there is an airline somewhere, where maids are serving. An Otaku´s dream one might think, but you can take everything too far.
Apparently there has opened up a Kigurumi Café in Akihibara called “Aokazetei”, featuring women dressed in anime character facial masks. However, one should always be aware that there might be a good chance men will be inside those costumes. Because how can you tell? They are all covered in an overall anime suit with fake boobs and everything, not even exposing a bit of their original skin. And since these walking 2-D/3-D hybrids will not actually talk to the customers during their time at Kigurumi Café Aokazetei, one can´t even tell by the voice. Communication goes via whiteboards and markers.
If the thought of it hasn´t already given you the creeps, take a look at the selection of waitresses that would be serving you

Also take a look at this, more Kigurumi cosplay to give you some sleepless nights (in a negative way of course):

If that hasn´t scared the hell out of you, check some videoson Kigurumi cosplay:

Cosplay? No commento desu ...
Concerning those "Dollers", as people doing that kind of Kigurumi cosplay for human anime figures are called, check Wikipedia.

KINKY DRINK
Who has ever heard of Zima, or if you have, who cares? Strange malt booze nobody really wants to dring in the western hemisphere. In Japan, however, things are slightly different. In their latest campaign, "Kiss A-ZIMA," they are giving out free silicone lips that you are meant to attach to the mouth of the bottle. (Or onto whatever you like ...)
Gravure idols Aya Kiguchi, You Tejima and Yukina Kinoshita had molds of their lips made for this campaign.
The fake lips bag comes along with a funny little instructional comic.
1. Attach
2. Drink
3. Imagine
"Zima's taste is kissing taste," it says. Great! Its what we´ve all been waiting for ... NOT!
Oh yeah, and check out the production of these lips in China

And they are really INTO their hentai and anime stuff ... how can they concentrate then? And look what cosplay does to a simple thing like going for a wee ...

What Power Rangers should have been:
Megaloman (First aired on TV in 1979 - 31 episodes)
The main character Takashi Shishidou transforms into a giant long-haired warrior Megaloman to fight the evil monsters for the protection of Earth.

You know how some people wear pants but their underwear still shine through... well this is a new pant just for them.
It's a pan and underwear in one! You still get the satisfaction of wearing pants, but your underwear fetish shines through!

Shimapan is the Japanese (pervert's) word for "striped panties." Apparently, people can now buy striped panties that are chilled. Like in a refrigerator. I'm trying desperately to keep my brain from wondering what possible use men would have for buying chilled panties -- because I honestly doubt many Japanese women are availing themselves of this amazing product -- although jerking off into them on a hot summer's day is sadly the most innocuous solution. What really, really bothers me is this: Why just striped panties? If you know, please never, ever tell me. (Via Sankaku Complex)

Yeah you can also buy normal panties (used) from a vending machine. Personally I prefer stripes to little cute animals or what not, but I still wouldn't buy em from a vending machine.
But with all the weirdness and perverted stuff, apparently Japan has a reallllyyy low crime rate. I guess they consume all this stuff and know it's need to be regulated or something...
special..
