Lagonda0815  : (24 May 2013 - 07:06 AM) I CAN SEE YOU !!!
Soap DX  : (23 May 2013 - 05:46 PM) you should find a good thread to post it in, or make a new one.
Orange_kun  : (23 May 2013 - 12:28 AM) Well it depends on the person really . . . but I fell it has something for everyone XD
Orange_kun  : (23 May 2013 - 12:28 AM) its a must to see
Orange_kun  : (23 May 2013 - 12:27 AM) Very good !
Lagonda0815  : (23 May 2013 - 12:19 AM) nah ... haven't ... any good?
Orange_kun  : (23 May 2013 - 12:15 AM) Oi have you seen the new AMV Hell 6.66 ?
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 11:56 PM) yeah ... one of those!
Orange_kun  : (22 May 2013 - 11:08 PM) One of the days that drive you nuts eh ?
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 11:02 PM) damn it! internet was bothering me all day long! always failed to log on, traffic rate was terribly low ... dunno what its been up to ... one of those days I guess!
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 11:01 PM) me not on
Orange_kun  : (22 May 2013 - 10:58 PM) Ello who evers on !
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 01:38 PM) ?
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 01:22 PM) using them to store and share my simple  programs was the first thing I did when I got empty disks... later on I started piling them up with saved data and backups
Now I should still have all those backed up in external drives with folders labeled with RED BLUE GREEN BLACK
and true about the older Apple systems (well even now it mostly requires to be hooked up with other apple products but at least its getting software that is somewhat compatible with other Operating systems .. though mostly via means of Virtual Machines ... )
Still I prefer Linux systems over Apple if I had to switch out from the user friendly Windows :D
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 01:17 PM) well ... you don't need them for programming only ... you could copy other people's games by using the blanc disks!
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 01:14 PM) And as far as I remember Apple products have always been terribly expensive. Truth be told: they were always the most fashionable company with the coolest design, but nevertheless terribly expensive! Apple computers would only run with other Apple products, Apple printers and whatnot and you could never use your files on other computers ... thats their weak point! If you had an Apple at home you could not do the print-out at uni or in the copy-shop and if you had to do an essay or a presentation with others you had to go to their place and use their computer to write things up because they couldn't use your data. I believe things have changed now, but I never bought any Apple products for that reason. Also because PC users are far more lassez-fare when it comes to their hard- and software. Apple geeks are always so over the top with their company its a bit like a sectarian group, like Christian fundamentalists or Scientology or something ... I mean: who gives a shit about what computer you are using? No point in coming up to me and talking me down just because I happen to have other products from other companies! They always try to convert people around them and I can't stand it.
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 01:13 PM) well I've only used the slide thing for the smaller floppy disks .. never had any empty/blank/formatted disks for the bigger ones and those times I was more into using or playing with them than into programming (which I started when I got the windows 3.1 laptop and Q-basic)
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 01:09 PM) That slide thing comes with the 3 1/2 inch floppy disk. For the flexible 5 1/4, 8 and 12 inch floppy disk you would have to cut a little rectangle bit off the corner. You could not write on them any more after cutting off those bits. If you wanted to add or delete later on you had to cover the hole with some tape. Its a bit like with the old cassettes where you had to break off that tiny little plastic bit in the corner section to secure the date and keep you from accidentally overwriting them and had to put duck-tape on them to write on them again. Something like that ...
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 12:59 PM) My grandfather was with the Apple products from the start so he had all those operating systems from the oldest models and gradually kept upgrading to the newer ones .. but now he realized how much expensive it all became so my dad set him up with the windows set up XD
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 12:49 PM) Corner bits off? not sure about those but the normal floppy disks that I used had the small square/rectangle slide thing that would make them read only or writable.. though I don't think you meant that system :P
and yeah I did have a computer that used those large floppy disks XD usually it was games on them.. If I remember correctly we had digger and Cubix  among others but had that system when I was like 5 or so (my ekder brother played on that more and in his time there probably was a working cassette player system because I saw those in the dismantled parts crate that my father kept in his "store" *ahem* junk *ahem* room XD
Dad was the main tech guy and used to bring in all the latest computers in the house so that was the only way we got to try them all from the start of Windows. and older to those.
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:04 PM) Oh GOD! Those should be 12 inch disks ... (there were 8 ichs? really?) ... don't tell me you had those! They are as old-school as can be ... well ... some used a datasette, which is basically a cassette player ... my brother used to have one of those for his pocket pc, which was basically something like a better calculator ... Sharp produced them thingies back in the days ...
Have you also had those thingies to cut away the corner bits of the discs to secure the data?
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:01 PM) thou made m smirk at that (*smirk*)
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 11:03 AM) also am back and lol it did contain a lot of topics that I went through (about memory and others) ...
but I couldn't recall any of the key points >__>
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 10:57 AM) ah there was also that one desktop (though now I can't remember if it had windows on it or if it was DOS only) that ran these
Posted Image

the 8 inch ones.. Don't remember if I used the 5.2 inch disks >__>
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 10:07 AM) @blu3: So Jehova's Witnesses are only trying to sell their magazines?
@Sonic: "Social Nanny" working on you? ... has a nice ring to it!
@Night: I checked my system CDs (yeah I know ... I shouldn't keep all of them, but hey ..) seems like my first desktop has been Win 95 ... theres really no point in keeping all them system CDs ... theres no computer running on it anyway .. oh and I got a Sinclair ZX81 somewhere ... its been passed down to me and good fun ... it has 1 kb RAM and no disk drive or anything, but its been the first computer private people could buy. Its actually still working! I had it attached to a TV a couple of times ... nothing you can do with it apart from simple calculations and BASIC programming, but its still cool! It must date back to 1983 or something but its still working ... when I think about your home-electronics! (^_^) ...
blu3  : (22 May 2013 - 09:21 AM) close xD but their is a fan/joke cult called: "Jenovas Witnesses". They tell people about the epicness of FFVII xD
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 07:57 AM) alrighty done... ciao o/
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 07:25 AM) on another note.. I've got a paper of psychology due in a hour or so and am not the least bit prepared for it >__>
My mind feels so tired at the moment.. been cramming up as much as I could and still get the feeling that whatever I'm reading won't be what I would be needing :P
And also don't remember half of what I just went through.. though it had something to do with Long and short term memory XD
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 07:21 AM) Or maybe that was something else which sounded similar to Jehova :P
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 07:20 AM) Jehova.... wait wasn't that got to do with something in Final Fantasy.. I think Sephiroth had some kind of attachment to it :O
blu3  : (22 May 2013 - 06:37 AM) (and their religion revolves around a monthly magazine they want you to subscribe to $ )
blu3  : (22 May 2013 - 06:36 AM) They are a really really weird cult :/
blu3  : (22 May 2013 - 06:36 AM) don't mistake Jehovas witnesses with Christians. We are fundamentally different.
blu3  : (22 May 2013 - 06:35 AM) Just in my self-defence, please don
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 06:00 AM) I didn't say that you needed one.. I was asking if she was offering to be one..
well you did say you had an interesting talk.. I hope it was well worth the time :)
Sonic Warrior  : (22 May 2013 - 04:35 AM) And I have no need for a nanny
Sonic Warrior  : (22 May 2013 - 04:35 AM) Aren't Jehova's witness The "Messengers of god" that travel to people houses and enforce ideals?
Sonic Warrior  : (22 May 2013 - 04:29 AM) Lagonda, no, she wasn't Jehova's Witness. Night heart, Yes she is a woman, (She) And I said Social Worker, not Nanny.
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 12:45 AM) hah!! I just forced it to run an empty short cycle and when that was done.. it got back to working properly accumulating water ^_^
good now no need to jinx the AC :P
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 12:27 AM) Oh hey there Kells (^-^)/

Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 12:26 AM) This is so not right!! now I find out that my washing machine broke.. the attached dryer is fine but the washing machine its not storing the water ..
instead simply skipping to the end of the spin cycle where it releases all the water >__< (without going through the first two stages of storing >> spinning >> and then release)
first the toaster and now the washing machine ... whats next... the Air conditioner ? >__>
KellyBob  : (22 May 2013 - 12:18 AM) o.O
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 12:12 AM) -_-
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:11 AM) ^_^
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:11 AM) "puncturing" is THAT how you call it? ... Right!
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 12:11 AM) yeah likewise :byeb:L
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:10 AM) ok ... enough for today! See you around ! Good night Night!
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 12:10 AM) ... placing the labels onto the DVD and puncturing a hole in between while we're at it XD
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:09 AM) "manual job"? ... you mean "hand job" right?
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:09 AM) nah ... neither coffeine nor taurin work on me ... its because of my terribly low blood-pressure ... For quite a while I thought Im immune against those, but then I found out about my blood pressure and apparently I can have four mugs of straight espresso just in order to get my blood-pressure to the level where other people have theirs when they get up before having coffee ... well ... at least I will most unlikely suffer a heart attack or something ... not too bad either!
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 12:07 AM) ..mine can only print the labels .. need to do the manual job by hand XS
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:06 AM) Im getting slightly jealous hearing about your little toy ... but then again: you said the ink cartridges cost a fortune, so no! ... Im fine with mine! Mine can also print DVD lables directly onto the DVD! YAY!
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 12:06 AM) G'night
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 12:06 AM) all the best.. drink red bull .. it won't get you wings but may make you hyper XD
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:05 AM) all right ... its gotten late ... I got a whole lotta stuff to write tomorrow ... argh! ... so much work piling up.
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 12:05 AM) the one above has that option but as its bulky its a place-it-and-never-move-it kind of deal (also it got the wireless printing (and scans can get sent directly to the laptop connected to the wireless network)so that is neat)
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:04 AM) life-time support for second-hand printer? Sounds good to me!
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:03 AM) but then again ... I guess its better to go to a copy-shop and get those scans done quickly there ...
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:02 AM) I was thinking of getting myself one of them all-in-ones and if it just was for the scanner ... I had my eyes of one of them automatic-paper-feeding scanners ... I thought it would be nice to have it running next room with one of my computers and have it scan a bunch of documents all by himself ...
Night Heart  : (22 May 2013 - 12:01 AM) lol yeah atleast every once in a month the tech support comes in to patch it up.. well its free for lifetime so its no biggie
also got it second hand so the deal was good
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:01 AM) ah I see ... you are a " mid-sized company, department, branch offic or workgroup" (quote)
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:00 AM) How many scanners did die on you?
Lagonda0815  : (22 May 2013 - 12:00 AM) ah ... those all-in-one thingies ... look great but usually break down quickly.
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 11:58 PM) my sis got a HP deskjet though its not working.. won't print anything even with new ink cartridges but it scans perfectly well >__>
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 11:56 PM) http://participant.m...bizhubC252.html
Lagonda0815  : (21 May 2013 - 11:54 PM) ah ... so I guess you got a laser printer? Those are expensive to run.
Lagonda0815  : (21 May 2013 - 11:54 PM) If you are having hard times getting cheap ink cartridges you might have a Hewlett Packard or Lexmark ... those only work with original cartridges, and you gotta get new ones as soon as one color is dry - thye cost up to 30 EURO and all the colors are in one cartridge! Bastard system that is! For moneysavers Epson or Canon is best. I was going with Canon since quite a while .. got my third Canon right now and each color comes separately and you can get black cartridges starting at 0,90 EURO up to 1,60 EURO or the original for 10 EURO ...
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 11:53 PM) its those big one...
Lagonda0815  : (21 May 2013 - 11:51 PM) *two (not thow)!
Lagonda0815  : (21 May 2013 - 11:51 PM) what type of printer are you using?
Lagonda0815  : (21 May 2013 - 11:50 PM) My brother wanted to sell me his when I started at uni, but it was already outdated when he bought it for his studies and it had been in the basement for quite a while ... thats when I got my first Desktop. I had thow of those, the 4 laptops and two more for work that I carried about but that weren't mine. First laptop was a 3.1 which was outdated a lot when I got it ... I needed one just for typing in the library and had no money so that was the only thing I could afford then. Each of those desktops have gone down after a while ... I always had troubles with the harddrive there ... I installed coolers every time but still ... Im just not lucky with Deskop PCs ... I had Win 98 there ... fiddled a bit with Ubuntu Linux but never gotten into it ... my first decent laptop was an XP and I still got that one ... just in case! You never know when your main computer breaks down and you need an extra computer for mounting or something ... then theres the Eee PC which is running on Win7 and my big-ass wide-sreen laptop which is also running on Win7. I bought it last year because I wanted to make sure to get one that still runs on the old system. Win7 ain't that bad ... I was fairly happy with XP, but Vista was so terrible that I got scared and had to avoid Win 8 ...
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 11:47 PM) those printer cartridges are darn expensive (especially the multi color ones)
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 11:44 PM) I still have a linux one running but its got its keyboard all messed up .. most of the keys stopped working so need to use an external for that laptop.. then an XP one is semi working (boots in DOS only) while all others are dead :P so the only fully opperational one is the Win7 Laptop (though its fan is dead and it over heats from time to time and then displays it Blue screen <_<)
Lagonda0815  : (21 May 2013 - 11:43 PM) I use that cleaning liquid for dried up ink cartridges. Im using a Canon and the cartridge itself is nothing more than an ordinary plastic tank, but you have to take care of the installed bits that spits the ink ... I usually take used ink-tanks and fill them up with cleaning liquid. Then I let him print a lot in BOLD mode ... usually takes care of whatever dirt has gotten in its way. If that don't work there is also destilled water. Just put a few millimeters worth on a plate and put your cartridge there ... leave it for the night and then do as described before. If THAT don't work! (It usually does.) you can still do the same with cleaning alcohol or paint dissolver, though that would be the harsh method!
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 11:43 PM) I've had the laptops from the dos age to windows 3.1 and then XP >>> XP >>> Linux >> XP >> Linux again >>> XP again >> and now windows7
the desktop computers that went bad were from windows 95>> 98 >> and couple of XP's .. never had a Vista (though my sis/brother/and dad had those on their laptops)
Lagonda0815  : (21 May 2013 - 11:39 PM) Hmmm ... let me think ... I had a bunch of computers ... 4 private laptops and I had two for work ... so those were not actually mine! Damn it ... one even had Vista on it ... VISTA! ... Piece of shitty software that was! All nice and shiny but didn't work properly. One of my four laptops got stolen and I still have three of which I use two on a regular basis. One is a bad-ass 17 inch screen and one my cute little EeePC to carry about ...
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 11:38 PM) yeah that would happen :O
though I've used those heaters (or I think it was oil heaters) to liquidize the jammed/dried up ink cartridges but that was not dangerous (except if one would leave it on top for too long and the entire pen would melt) thankfully it never came to that stage
Lagonda0815  : (21 May 2013 - 11:37 PM) I got a family of 5 but Im the only one whos really into computer stuff. .. "Blue Screens of Death"! ... Love that one!
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 11:35 PM) I've had the most number of laptops in my possession compared to all of my family members and we are a family of 6 :O
Lagonda0815  : (21 May 2013 - 11:35 PM) I remember back in the days when I was living in a dormitory ... (student stuff) ... we had a communal kitchen there and some weird bastard was obviously too lazy to get himself to clean a pot ... he (or she! never underestimate lazy-bum women!) put some canned soup into the water heater ... the whole thing turned into a piece of junk !
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 11:34 PM) Lol I had the same response from someone else but regarding Laptops (I overclock / overstress them too much and get the blue screens of death way too often XD)
Lagonda0815  : (21 May 2013 - 11:33 PM) The slogan would be something like: "Night Heart couldn't break it and so won't YOU!" ... something along those lines ...
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 11:33 PM) the toaster was fine.. but I think someone else used it to toast something which they weren't supposed to and since then something might have gotten embedded into the grooves which in turn over heated the coils from inside <__<
Lagonda0815  : (21 May 2013 - 11:32 PM) Apart from that ... I believe Quality Management could be a promising line of work for you ... companies could send their home electronics to you for testing ... if you can't break it - what better proof of quality is there?
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 11:31 PM) hmmm... maybe I should buy a matching axe and use it to chop steak :D
Lagonda0815  : (21 May 2013 - 11:31 PM) Good for you! ... You know there are schnitzel available in the shape of a slice of toast. You can put them in a toaster like an ordinary toast! ...
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 11:24 PM) the toaster has a top area that extends upwards (it gets raised) onto where you can place flat (horizontal) items
Lol I know better as to not toast it like a normal slice of bread XD
and yeah I've never used (or had the need to use) a fire extinguisher before :O
you are right if I see one I'll sure get those mini sized units.Though they make a lot of mess with all their white foam spreading around places where you don't want it to go.. it still saves you from the excessive smoke that still disperses throughout the house even after the fire is dowsed.
Lagonda0815  : (21 May 2013 - 11:11 PM) @Night: What were you thinking? Your are not supposed to put pizza in your toaster! ... before getting a new toaster: add life-insurance and fire-extinguisher to your shopping-list!
KellyBob  : (21 May 2013 - 10:52 PM) o.o
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 10:41 PM) last time there was a fire in this building.. and entire (6th) floor got charred and one girl died where as her brother got severely burnt... I don't really know the cause of the fire but I think it started with an electrical spark/fire .. Faulty wiring I presume :\
that was the day the building owners found out that there was no water supply running through the sprinklers system
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 10:20 PM) Oh and once again the sprinklers didn't activate.. but then again probably their sensors are but high tuned and most of the smoke (while the plastic and all was burning) got sucked in by the smoke dispenser that's connected in the kitchen above the open windows which was near to where the toaster was kept.
but yeah strangely enough I didn't get electrocuted or burned :P
hmm.. need to add a new toaster to the shopping list before the folks return ^_^
lol being home alone is so much fun <img src='http://daiphyer.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='-_-' />
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 10:14 PM) @Lag/Soap: Remember when I talked about I smelt my bread burning?... and you (lag) said to save it... well it happened again and this time I didn't save it....
The toaster got on fire and my bread got burnt... -_-
well the bottom crust was all charred but hey I couldn't let it all go to waste.. the top part with all the pizza toppings was still perfect so I sliced the good part off, ate it and threw the toaster into the sink and threw jugs of water to dowse the fire  while enjoying my Pizza
Night Heart  : (21 May 2013 - 09:54 PM) was it a she? was she offering to become your nanny?
Lagonda0815  : (21 May 2013 - 08:06 PM) wasn't Jehova's Witness was it?
